Has anyone purchased or created a bracket suitable for storing a small outboard from a tender (2.3 Hp Honda) on the push-pit of a Sun 2000? Any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum I think the neatest would be to have a s/s bracket made of tube fabricated, Don't know where you are based but on the UK east coast Mr Stainless is excellent www.mrstainless.co.uk/ProductType/Marine.aspxAlso there is an active Sun 2000 owners website,at: sun2k.free.fr/ it is mainly, but not exclusively, in French - but Mathieu their webmaster, has very good English if your French is not too hot - I am sure he will help put a request for other suggestions

Thanks for the advice. I think a fabricated stainless steel bracket is probably the way to go. However, before I do, I will try the contacting the other site when I have taken a photo of the push pit.
I have only recently purchase the Sun 2000 and will be mooring it on the River Deben at Felixstowe Ferry.
Regards.

Hi Steve It is a very small world as we are heading for Felixstowe Ferry at Easter wehave been on the south coast for 3 seasons but are now on our way north our boat is officially Serica of Woodbridge and we were in the Tide Mill for the first season but had kept our previous so34.2 at the ferry - will only be back for a month though we have a mooring from Andy but then going up to Scotland - do give me a shout if I am onboard
Back to the subject we had our pushpit strengthened by Mr Stainless so that we could put an outboard bracket and liferaft there - if you look at the Hints and Tips section you will see something similar on an SO45
The guys are brilliant and will weld onto existing S/S whilst the boat is still in a Marina In your case you probably will only need one extra upright that bolts low down on the stern then sweeps up with a short hortizontal section before it joins the existing tripod pushpit so that you can place a short piece of wood for the small outboards clamp
You probably could make a cardboard template of the dimensions this would allow them to make the bracket and you then could go round to SYH or up to the Tide Mill to get it fixed
Cheers
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,
Am currently sorting out a few jobs highlighted by the survey and hope to be on the water in mid April. Hope I manage to catch up with you before you leave for Scotland.
I have just taken some photos of the push pit and will use your idea of making a cardboard template too. I live in Felixstowe so I can easily drive over to Levington to Mr Stainless see what they could do for me.
Regards.
