EDITOR Now published in full at: www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/variablefan.htmlDear all, I wonder if someone can help....... My thermo resistor which triggers the engine bay fan to come on has failed. I've looked on Jeanneauparts.com and this part is not listed. Has anyone replaced this part? if so, where did you get it from? or any suggestions or is it a visit to maplin electronics? Pic - this is the part I'm referring to. Many thanks in advance Regards Ian

I don't know the specific characteristics of this particular thermo-switch, but it is probably nothing unique or special. It is identical in appearance to mass-production thermo-switches that are available through all the usual electronic component distributors. You just need to know the temperature that closes it and the rated amperage, to match it to a "generic" part.

In the U.S. a car parts store such as NAPA will carry them in stock, so whatever your local equivalent is will most likely have it, and if you bring in the old part it makes it even easier as those stores usually have a *huge* stack of parts books where they can match the identical item.

Hi All, Well the plot thickens!! I thought I would check the rest of the system out..... well, what a job!! Nearly every connection, fuse and relay was duff!!! I thought I had sorted it when I at last had power and an earth down to the blower motor connection. But still the fan would not run (I had bridged out the thermostat connection for test purposes). Ithen found a broken wire inside the motor housing! and and and........ a dry soldered joint on to the motor!!! In all my years of engineering I don't think I ever come across some many faults in ONE system!! Apart from the thermostat it all now works. I have gone a bit further and have ordered a varible thermostat, so I can set the fan activation to come on at the right temp. Link for the part: uk.rs-online.com/web/p/thermostats/7334710/I will of course take a couple of pics of its installation when it arrives. Best Regards Ian

Hi All, Well the Thermostat is all fitted and it works a real treat!!!! From this pic you can see the thermostat fitted (top and center). Directly next to it on the left is the relay which powers up the fan. Dead simple to fit!!

In this pic you can see the capilary sensor which is fitted to the top of the engine bay. NOTE: mounting the sensor in this position will directly pic up heat as it rises from the engine. BUT this is what I want to happen, so as soon as the engine gets to a predetermined temp, the fans will cut in. But as the thermostat temp range goes up to 120 degrees, I have plenty of leeway to set the thermostat just right. Hope this helps Best Regards Ian EDITOR: Now published in full at: www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/variablefan.html
