Hello Below some photoshopped images, of possible traveler for my SO 29.2. And Marty, yes those earlier photos were from SO29.2 similar as in my case. In my case/ opinion Traveler front of cockpit (as Marty have) PRO: Can be fixed solution and enough width (have access from tiller even when single-handed. CON: Those are in our weather the best seats (Finland not eq. Caribbean) Traveler as edited picture below PRO: Removable and give space in harbour. Can use current mount point. CON: short, maybe not enough trim with 76cm 30inc width. Removable traveler in mid-cockpit PRO: Good trim since width enough CON: Can not access hatch during sailing Any comments ? Temporary and for trial I will try proposed line to spinnaker block to see impact next summer. This I assume will work from lee side in strong wind and windward block in light wind. And hold my craftsman skills until proven impact -Martti Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I installed a traveller on our 32i last week. Main reason; I want the mainsheet within reach when at the helm. I opted for a 100 cm traveler on the cockpit floor just in front of the steering wheel. With this setup the mainsheet is in reach of the helmsman as well as the crew without being in the way when moving around the cockpit. I haven't decided on the sheet setup yet. A simple 6:1 configuration is most likely.
I'll post some pictures soon

That sounds very interesting. Are you afloat right now and if so, can you tell us about your experiences? It would be a valuable addition to this discussion.

Hi Ted, Sorry, experience isn't due till April. She is afloat but winter ready in my backyard. Ideal for making mods like this but not for testing them. I dropped some pics below. I used the following parts: 100 cm teak profile, Harken rail R27 1M, end-control HKE2756, car HKT2731B

Hi Both installations are nice and look good. I wonder is there any difference between SO29.2 76cm traveler possibility vs. SO32 100cm. Infinite question and maybe biggest impact comes where the traveler is mounted. For both, usability in single-handed and impact in light and strong wind.
Thanks Legolas also for the detail part information. Very useful in case I start the same work.

Marti,
Without measuring either boat, the 32 may have extra space in between?!?!?!?
A recommendation/thought if it were me..... I like the option Legolas did. BUT, I would have done the tall track, left a hole in the middle of the wood along the floor for better drainage. A tall track IIRC is capable of spanning about a .5-1 meter or there about. The cost when one looks at the whole cost for the tall vs std height is pretty small.
For marti, I would swag the forward placement of the traveler across the seat like mine, would not work as the pic in avatar looks like you have a dodger, so the sheet lines and dodger would more than likely get in each others way. One of the middle of the cockpit options about where your current eyebolt is setup would end up as the best option IMHP.

Marty It may not be very clear on the pictures but I did make a hole for drainage. Using a tall track this could be much larger but I don't think that's is necessary. I never considered using the tall track but it is an option. It would need less holes in the cockpit floor which may be a pro as well as con. I used 10 M8 bolts which makes it very strong.

Legolas,
I could see the drain hole you have. It's one of those I would prefer something bigger. Not sure of the why, but at least where I am, bigger is usually better, or something seems to get caught or fills up the holes. Larger holes when hosing out the bottom drain the water quicker with no standing or dirt etc sitting there.
Also having gone with the tall track on my boat, even tho I did not need it. Some nice things about it, the one I got did not have built in bolt holes. The heads of the bolts slide in a track at the bottom, so I was able to use my olde tracks bolt holes which is a different measure than the new tracks. I did have to use a bigger dim bolt. I want to say from a bout a 4-6mm bolt to about an 8mm. My original bolts were metric, new sae. I was also able to go from some tiny washer barely larger than the nuts to stove washer which are probably 25-30 mm in diam, a bit over an inch!
Along with it puts the traveler a bit farther above the deck in my case, that clearance is nice too. Especially when it comes to cleaning under it at times. We get a lot of moss or equal around here due to the dampness year around. We do not get a lot of rain per say, but seems like a constant drizzle. Hence why a lot of folks at least in the US say Seattle rains a lot! LOL, The east coast gets an ave of 10" more from May to Oct than we get ALL year!

You haven't seen our weather. This summer we had a regular monsoon, it was one of the wettest and coldest I remember. We're another kind of west coast. Having seen all about traveler rails I will probably go for a roof mounted one like that described by Flightdeck, last year. I don't have wheel steering but a tiller, so I can easily reach under the dodger to adjust the traveler lines. It will give a lot less hamper in the cockpit. From what I read Flightdeck seems to be happy with it. See jeanneau.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1324&page=1
