While delivering my 02 SO43DS from Blaine WA to SF last week, the main's furling tack hook sheared off (see attached) while close reaching in moderate conditions below Cape Flattery. I'm curious if other 43 and/or Sparcraft mast/furler equipment owners have suffered this kind of failure? (BTW, the fix was to cable tie the sail's tack to the bottom of the furler shaft so we could roll it up about a foot or so and that kept everything pretty much in place. All things considered, she proved herself to be a pretty fast sailer; we arrived Sat 10/29 w/no other failures.)
