Are they built in USA, France or elsewhere? Were different model years built in different yards? If so, is there much variation in build quality between yards?

I am reasonably sure all SO37 and SF/SO35's would all have been built at Les Herbiers, France - you can check by looking at the HIN number on the hull - if it has FR then it is French built.
I believe it is only in the past 2 years or so that the Beneteau factory in Marion SC started producing the SO36i and SO39i
Interestingly demand for Jeanneau's means that some models are now also being built in the French Beneteau factory at Le Poire sur Vie
The strict quality control and that the boats are built largely from modules should ensure that quality is the same wherever built
