I have recently bought a 2003 SO32. I thought we were using a lot of water but on a recent trip under engine I found my bilges with steam rising out of them. Pumped them out and tried to find where it was coming from but no luck. Seems to be mainly gathering in the main part of the bilge. No signs of any water coming from the after part of the boat. I cannot find a leak any idea where it may be coming from??

I own a 2001 32.2 and when I first bought the boat in 2004, had the same problem. The first place for you to check is the pressure relief valve on the Hot Water Cylinder. It is very common for this valve to get "stuck" and discharge hot water directly into the bilge. The manufacturer actually recommends that you manually operate the valve at "regular intervals" (I operate mine a couple of times a season) to stop this happening. Have a look at a post from timb on the 20th March 2007 which explains all. I actually replaced my valve (£10), purchased through Force 4 chandlery (you will have to phone them because I don't believe it's shown on their web-site) so that I could be sure the valve was fine. Carry out the system / air accumulator re-set procedure as clearly explained by timb, and I feel this may work. I now re-set mine at the start of each season and I have had no problems. The fact that your safety valve releases pressure by dumping hot water into the bilge is better than not releasing it at all!
Hope this helps

rodgerg,
Forgot to mention that the previous post by timb, can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the "General Jeanneau Topics" page and jumping to page 32. Original subject post "Full Bilge SO 32.2" started by roblewis.

You were all right!!
Well done managed to trace the problem, I have tried to make sure valve is seating itself as well as I can. Looked at the valve from the outside and saw what appeared to be a similar one at local chandlers however the original has a long tube with a rod running through it. The one I bought does not. I cleaned up the old one and the problem is reduced but I now have a drip (despite ptfe tape) running down from below the re-inserted PR valve and the tank. I also discovered 2 closed valves. One I discovered was to the bathing platform shower for cold water. The other lower down accepts a connection from the T piece the PR valve discharges into and seems to be the drain valve for the cold water system, or at least I think it is. Anyone any idea of a source for the original PR valve its honeywell make rated to 2.5 bar, its the long tube that threw me it does not look as it its breaks apart more. Also in case I need it a new or refurbed hot water tank?
Many thanks
