Can a Jeanneau 57 be single handed without any issues...I am considering buying this boat but most of the time I will be operating it alone...should I get a smaller boat? Any other thoughts on this boat would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am thinking of doing the same thing - singlehanding this boat. I was aboard one model for 2 straight days and played through the moves and steps of sailing her and am pretty confidant that, in normal conditions and without equipment problems, the Jeanneau 57 can be singlehanded. I've been singlehanding my current 49DS with no problems but the 57 is going to be almost double the size. Dockign a big boat, even with a bowthruster, is a chore; but picking up a mooring ball is easier in a big boat as the wind plays little role in the process and one just needs to estimate inertia. I am in the last stages of selling my 49DS this week and if all goes well will order a Jeanneau 57. While I'm still on the fence regarding electric winches I think I will go ahead and get them for the 57 as the forces involved make grinding winches an awful lot of work despite the large diameters.

Here is your answer (at least here in San Diego):
Contact Ian- he's quite helpful. He has produced a series of videos and posted them on Youtube. Enjoy!
