I am currently commissioning a new SO33i. Will be used more for cruising rather than racing. Has anyone have suggestion on what size anchor, and how much anchor chain to use?

Hi Yvonne, lately there has a number of anchor subjects/forums if you read them you should be able to work something out......or be totally confused. Cheers

Then the anchor size will depend upon the type too! My 30' boat I use a 7.5KG/16.5lb Bruce style, with about 15' of chain. Weighs about 7000 lbs.
I know of a few others with boats to 33' and around 10K lbs using the same anchor, some with a bit more chain. If I was on the hook spending the night more than I do, i would up size the chain a size or two and go with 30-35'. WHere I am, currents can be more of an issue than waves, wind is a factor to contend with also. ALong with the type for ground you will anchor in. may folks seem to carry two types and sizes, hoping if one does not work, the other style will. I also have a danforth in the mid teen lb range too.
