Can anyone point me to an explanation of the builders plate? EG; If the plate has the following; FR-IRI00304K001, I understand that the boat is manufactured in France (The FR part), in 2001 (the K001 part), but what does the IRI00304 part stand for?
I've been trying to source some parts for the boat, and have an issue with whether I fit the Hull # 1-279, or 280 onwards section. I suspect that I have hull 304, but would love to get some clarification.
FWIW, I did try searching on this forum, and on the web, but didn't find anything here using the search function and google just throws up tons of dross.
Hope you cna help.
Cheers, PT.

Hi touchngo ....my 2004 SO32 has a hull number with FR-IRI.......and R304 in it also. Then #400 which I assume is the hull number. I sourced my boat in Ireland and I think IRI means it was ordered as new by an Irish broker. That's what I was told. Is your's an Irish reg boat? Hope this helps and I hope I was told right. Cheers Ron

THe IRI stands for built by Jeanneau. my 85 Arcadia has the same thing in it. Other manufactures have different codes, I'll try to look up where I know these letter stand for are, I did not see that listed in Don's link. FOund it three clicks later in the link Don gave. www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic1.aspxTHe last numbers, I have not come up with, other than potentially the 304th hull built that model year! If I used the last number or number in my hull# I would be hull 714, there were only 305 Arcadia's built over 3 three years. I may very well have bee the 714th hull built in 85! in that plant if there are more than one buildings where the boats are built or overall of ALL plants etc. The digits after the IRI have not made ANY sense to me. Thanks Malcolm that link explains it all. That IRI thing, just goes to show not all surveyors are completely in the know cos that's what mine told me. unless it was his IRIsh sense of humour. Ron

Looking at Webcrew's link, I'm coming up with
FR - France IRI - Jeanneau 00304 - Serial # (Is it fair to say this would be hull # 304 then?) K - Month (any idea?) 0 - Year of Build (So built in 2000) 01 - Model (but the 2001 model)
Fair Call?
All this, just to work out what decals should actually be on the boat!
Cheers, PT.

K should be 11th month, so November. November 2000 would be my swag for the manufacture date based on what I have read in Don's link.
Hull #.........I would swag 304th overall built that model year including ALL sizes of sail boats. As my boat has a hull # of 714, and only 305 or so were built. I would think this to be similar to auto VIN #'s, the number is based on the model year at that plant, even if multiple models of given type of vehicle are built on the same line. This is the part frankly I am not sure about the most.
