Our new 42I has 4 Raymarine ST-70 instruments. We're quite happy with them except that for some reason the speed and depth units change themselves from time to time for no apparent reason. I'll set them to knots and meters and pretty soon they're showing mph and fathoms.
Anyone else seen this behavior? Any info on remedying? I've put the question to Raymarine but so far no response.

I am jot near my boat at the moment but recall tat there are two levels of set up. In the simple one any changes are not permanent and revert to the original settings when the units are powered off. Permanent changes are made through a deeper menu system. It is explained in the manual but I recall the basic setup requires you to hold the es down for 2 seconds while the deeper set up require you to hold the keys down for 11 seconds.
I will be on the boat this weekend and will check.
Of course they coils just be faulty units.

This was also happening on our ST70 units, and was quite annoying. I upgraded the firmware to v3.03 by download from the Raymarine site (registration of product needed), put on CF card and then into E90W and follow instructions (it finds all the ST70 units on the network, and upgrades them one by one). Since then, no problems, and also some new features and colour schemes with the new firmware.

raymarine replied. they told me to make sure that a configuration option called "Mastership" was disabled (or enabled on only one st70 if seatalk 1 is needed) that seems to have done the trick.
In my case somehow 3 ST70's had Mastership On when none were required.
