I have an SO36i, and am intending to fit the Selden sprit for the assymetric I have on order.
Three questions: 1)Which diameter have other owners chosen? The 87mm looks right for the unsupported length/displacement equation in the catalogue;
2)Where have people stowed the sprit when out of use?; and 3)Has anyone retained the bow roller after fitting the hoop? I keep my boat on a swinging mooring so retaining the bow roller is of some importance. The commissioning guy at the brokers reckoned that the roller could be machined/turned down to a shorter length and smaller diameter ,and if the retaining bolt was left with a tiny bit of slack the hoop could be rotated down below the bow roller when necessary.
Any views?

Hi debenboy, 1) I agree with you the 87mm looks correct, I would suggest you wait with having the Aso made until you have fitted the sprit as it will change the size a bit, unless you are not too worried about a max fit. 2) I keep mine in the V-berth, when at my berth, cruising we just have it on, or on the front port side deck ready to be set up. 3) In the Seldon catalog you will see the hoop fitted to a bow roller that is on a larger Jeanneau, I have done same to my SO32 in a smaller scale, anchor on the starboard side and a bow roller on port, I just run the line thru the hoop when using that side. 4) Lots of fun to be have.
Cheers

Jeanneau supplied some fittings with our boat that allow us to store the asym pole on the rail up forward when not in use. Works great.
I'll see if I can get some pix of the fittings - all standard off the shelf stuff.
