Since I'm far from the boat and don't see this measurement in any of the docs, so I'd like to ask any 49DS owners or, failing that, any owners with cockpit lazarette lockers to tell me how much vertical space there is under the seat.
I'd like to get the Bauer Junior Dive Compressor but would need to store it in one of the lockers and the compressor's dimensions are 78 x 34 x 42 (width, length and height).
Would the 42cm height be sufficient to get the compressor into the lazarette locker and to close the door?

Hi Zanshin, I measured the height from the floor to the lip of the locker at 44cm - in doing this I'm assuming that the lid , with its rubber seals sits on the lip yielding the same height dimension inside when the lid is closed. The width is slightly tapered from 675mm at the seat edge (ie where one's knees are) to 715mm at the point where the seat curves vertically ( ie where your back rests). The locker has an overall depth of 105cm and at its height point is 68cm--so there is plenty of room towards the back. I have a watermaker in the starboard locker with my BBQ infront. the watermaker is 43 hx77Lx48 deep. The watermaker is fitted to flexible machine mounts bolted throuh to the cabin below -- with colour matched nut caps it's near invisible and quiet even though it's running 240 v and pumping out 100 litres/hour. In summary the compressor would be a tight fit if it were directly under the seat but there is plenty of room further back. Regards PJ

PJ - Many, many thanks for that information. I had a feeling it would be a tight fit inboard but more room outboard but am happy to hear that the compressor will fit. Now I just have to decide if I will go for an electric compressor or a 4-stroke gas powered one. Thanks!
