I have a SO 45.2 with a Lofrans 1000w windlass. Currently she carries 30m of 10mm chain and Simpson Lawrence 45lb anchor.
I would like more chain and would welcome views on how much the windlass will comfortably handle.

Hello Zimbali: I have a Sun Legende 41 with all chain rode (about 300ft.). It´s not how much the windlass will handle ( I have the same Lofrans) it´s how much weight you want in there! I´m happy having all chain, but when there´s no one aboard the boat sits lower by the bow.

Thanks notorious. Since posting the question I have worked out quite how stupid it was - of course the windlass doesn't have to cope with more weight the more chain you pay out - it all depends on depth of water!
I am resolved to get another 15 m and see how we get on weight wise.

I have a SO45.1 with the same windlass and 10mm chain. I have 60m all chain and a 24kg Delta on the end. Windlass has no problems even with all the chain out (and even in 15m of water).
