I own a 2003 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 with a Goiot steering pedestal and engine control. This weekend, the transmission control cable broke. Has anyone had to purchase a replacement cable for their Goiot engine control from a US vendor? If so, who was it?

Depending upon the actual cable you have, you may be able to make your own if the cable is solid or multiple strand. If you an remove the actual cable and outer covering, take it to a local auto parts or equal, you would be surprised how easy it is to fix. If it is not only the inner cable, and the outer, even still, another make or model could work, you again, need length etc to make it work.

Some years ago I had to replace the cable on our 2001 SO34.2 which has the same Goiot gear/throttle, whilst that is a copy of the Teleflex units, it takes standard teleflex cables which should be easily available from marine engineers or see: www.teleflexmarine.com/find-a-dealer/- you just need to know roughly the right length (not critical as both inner and outer are attached) They are quite cheap so might be worth investing in a spare we had rust in our unit so I thoroughly cleaned it, then greased all the internals and finally sealed the unit with silicone sealant Malcolm
