Bimini

I'm considering fitting a bimini to my SO35. I have however a number of questions.
Have many others fitted one to a similar boat?
When steering we usually stand on the dropped seat to see over the sprayhood, so would the folded bimini at the backstays present a problem with headroom?
As most of the biminis I have seen are on boats over 42 ft. how would one look on a boat this size, both folded and unfolded?
Do they present any other obstacle at the quarters when folded?
Sorry about all the questions, but I need to be sure before I part with €1,300+.

I have a bimini on my SO35. It fits just fine, and looks fine too. My main purpose in having it is to keep the sun and rain off me while I'm sailing. As a result, I don't fold it up, so I can't answer your questions about that.
I arranged to have my bimini built so its forward edge is about 6 inches aft of the boom. (You can almost tell by looking at my icon.) That way, it can't interfere with the boom while sailing. I'm sure you could have yours built so the height satisfies your headroom requirements.
The most important thing is to work with the builder to ensure that your requirements are well understood. They should be able to tell you where the attachments will be placed, and if you see any problems, you can correct them much more easily before the bimini is finished.

Hi E,
If you send me an e-mail I will send you a picture of a Bimini on a SO35 that I found. We are looking for a Bimini on our SO36i and saw one on a SO35 that we really liked: it covered the steering position, had 3 frames and was tensioned by straps that were fixed on the handrail at the coach-roof. On the parts tab of this forum you can check the site of nvequipment who are supplying standard Bimini for each type of Jeanneau.
Good luck, René
