After 3 years of use all year long, sailing downwind with the centerboard raised I heard a loud noise as if something had collided in the boat, in fact the centerboard had loudly and violently felt in the down position. Looking at the controlling rope attachment I saw it was disconnected from the centerboard, a shackle just remained linking the rope to the eye-bolt due to enter the centerboard to control it ; the threads of this bolt had nearly disappeared and a new nut of appropriate size could freely move on the remaining part of this bolt ; half of metal of the shackle had also disappeared from very heavy corrosion (electrolysis ?). Well, all this after only 3 years at sea, it denotes the use of bad quality stainless steel shackle, eye-bolt and nuts and I should recommend to anybody owning a centerboard Jeanneau to control this device once a year when the boat is out of the water.
