I read a post before that said WD40 would cure the bad squeak in my wheel steering. I took the ceiling down in the aft cabin and found that all of the wheel gear, rope and pulleys are in fine order and don't need any lube. Where do I lube the steering?
Boat is a 29.2 SO
Thanks

I have found the benefits of WD40 only short lived and it tends to wash the grease out of the pulley bearings. For a long term fix you need to slacken the cables to allow the pulley spindles to be removed , then clean up and regrease with a high pressure grease

I had that noise on my SO32 did most of what Malcolm suggest and the blasted noise was still there. Turns out where the rudder stock comes out thru the cockpit floor ( for the emergency tiller) the stainless on the delrin bush was the problem, WD40 has lasted the last 12 month, just started to squeak a little over the weekend, but this time I knows where to find it. Cheers
