I had replaced my two reefing lines by smaller diameter lines made of "dyneema" or "spectra", thus decreasing the frictions which were far too high on the standard boat. I had also added a "third" reef on my main sail, I take this reef with two lines one directly on the mast and the other on the rear of the boom. Two days ago I found the opportunity to use this setting facing heavy weather here in New Caledonia : crossed waves of around 2 meters, wind over 25kts with MANY storms as I had to sail upwind 8 Nautical miles to come to harbour, with weather predictions getting even worse for the next three days (35 TO 40 kts wind predicted). I sailed this short distance in 8 hours, the ground distance recorded by GPS being 36 Nautical miles, which meens 1 knots only upwind and a lot of drift, with the third reef set and a variable surface of jib unrolled according to the current wind. Well, I think I was quite close to the limits of the SUN 2500 but she was still comfortable and able to slowly beat upwind. I think a 3rd line of reef is mandatory as well as low friction reefing lines. Fair sea and wind to all, jcjglt, SV NUNKI
