The mirror, in the heads over the sink, in my 36i fell off while we were sailing. It crashed against the cover on the heads and cut into it. Could have been a serious injury if the heads were being used at the time ! The mirror was fixed to the teak with some adhesive which had failed. There are no fixings to hold the mirror. Beware ! My boat was built in 2007.

f clarke, This has been reported earlier in another posting. It would be a good thing if we all reviewed some of the older postings. It would also be good if this web site had a heading for "Serious Issues" or "Things to be Concerned about". After seeing this from you I will check my mirror this weekend. 36i hull # 186 Happy Sailing MKREMEDY

This problem was mentioned in the hints and tips section some time ago.

OK fellow jeanneau owners : yes the mirror issue has been reported in various posts BUT who has done anything about it? Has Jeanneau done anything? Has Jeanneau contacted all owners of mirrors so installed to advise a refit, organised a recall or retrofit.? Had this been an issue with a car you can bet that the issue would have been addressed: why? Because there is legislation to protect consumers ie us and our crews. God forbid this mirror fell on a young crew member. This forum should be monitored by Jeanneau strategic marketing : issues should be followed up to protect users and to protect the brand : the forum should be used for the benefit of both consumer ie us and the brand owner ie Jeanneau
Mr Jeanneau : get smart, get real: one day the issue of a falling mirror will bite you: you have been made aware of the problem : it appears you have done nothing. If it costs Mr Toyota it will cost you. Fix it>
EC directives are wonderful things and designed to protect consumers who at the end of the chain keep all manufacturers in business : take heed fix these issue or suffer.
Broken items which are an inconvenience and mean not good value are one end of the scale: patently bad design known to cause failure and which could cause harm to people are at the other end : and unless are fixed are morally unacceptable in any society of any political colour : think on. Use the forum wisely. If the reader is a Jeanneau dealer or agent bring it up at your next sales conference. If you supplied a vessel with a dodgy mirror fitting or any other identified fault : what are your liabilities?? Do you know?

I second that motion.
Well said.
Btw Has anyone already sent this link to Jeanneau ? Maybe it's time someone did.

To be honest we seem to have to accept less than satisfactory workmanship and standards on our boats. I will not be buying another Jeanneau. I think the designs are great but the execution is poor in so many areas and I have yet to have a satisfactory response to my warranty issues from Clark and Carter at Levington UK. They will not be getting my boat to sell this year! I think as owners we should make a joint representation to Jeanneau and it's about time they realised that unhappy customers could result in their demise! Grant

I have just had a good look at our (still in one piece) heads mirror on our 39i
When in the open position the mirror actually contacts the top of the faucet shower head.
I am guessing but as the string/line retention strops stretch over time this could end up with a broken mirror.
To avoid this I have unscrewed the retention strops and put in a single overhand knot to shorten the line
I am also trying to find some suitable mirror clips that I can attach to the bottom of the mirror in case of the glue coming unstuck
Will let you know if I find some suitable clips

It happened to me today - the mirror fell off! Thank goodness, my wife cought it and we now have it home in one piece together with the cupboard door. Two issues - the surface of the melamine wood was not prepared for adhesive and the glue is well and truly stuck to the mirror back. I shall abrase the surface and re-fix with the addition of corner fasteners if I can find s/s ones. However, before I do this myself, I am taking the whole lot down to Westways in Plymouth to get them to do it. WATCH THIS SPACE Tim

Westways are a disappointment! No reply to my mirror problem, so it looks as if I shall have to find help elsewhere. Has anyone else had this problem and how have they resolved it? Busy preparing for an early April launch so I need to get it done soon

Oh come on , it can't be that hard . www.fkmoore.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=96I for one would certainly not trust the glue on its own. Combining both is the only way to make sure the mirrors dont drop again. But strangely enough , both mirrors of my 1999 40DS got those fixings straight from the yard. I guess it's the combination of costs and manhours to install the clips that made Jeanneau decide to make them redundant in the new generation of boats. Bad move , no doubt about that.

I'd read this thread and thought interesting but won't happen to me... well it did. Smooth sea and a tack to starboard and there was a crash from below. We found the mirror of our 39DS on the heads floor. Unbelieveably it was still intact, the only damage being a hole in the heads door where a corner of the mirror hit it on the way down. Out to buy some clips and mirror glue to re-fix. As previous posters note, there is plenty of adhesive on the mirror back but the cabinet door was un-prepared with very little adhesive residue remaining. I'd urge others to check their mirrors and if no mechanical attachment is present, consider adding clips.
Steve.
