I have q query regarding water leak detection and wondering if anybody else has had the same experience. SO 32i commissioned in spring 2008 with light use / cruising for the first two seasons. Currently boat is laid up for the winter in the yard. During the last two visits i noticed a buildup of water (500ml) under the fwd bunk on the port side. The exact location is an open storage area at floor level immediately in front of the port locker. I am worried that it may be a deck problem or maybe something less serious. Anybody with any suggestions on where to start with this ?? All suggestions welcome!

Hi topper1,
I suspect one potential reason for the leak might be the (red) stopper of the fresh water tank in the front cabin. We had a similar (or even more serious) leak on our SO32i (2006) last summer and after removing the stopper found that it was damaged. To have the stopper replaced, I sent an email directly to the manufacturer (L'OCÉANE DES PLASTICS), and I was informed that they had some quality problems in the production of these stoppers during 2005-2006. They were kind enough to send me a new stopper, so this problem is now fixed.

Juha - many thanks for your post, the red cover on my aft watertank is also broken and leaking, the original owner had used silicone to slow down the leakage. I have sent them an email asking if I could purchase a replacement and let's see if my French was good enough for them to understand.

Juha - I wrote an e-mail to them last night, and this morning they have already dispatched a replacement part via mail. That's service! I've been waiting 2 weeks for a response from Jeanneau to a simple e-mail question....

hello If i am understanding the location correctly this is the open locker immediately below bunk port side. I have a water gathering problem on the starboard side but I have traced this to drips from the moulded rail that carries the bunk plywood bases. My immediate thought was a leak from the deck but the foam on the hull lining is dry ( except above the moulded rail).
Next thought : a stanchion leak on the pullpit : nope bone dry.
My current conclusion is condensation as the starboard bow is the coldest point of the boat, yet the fwd cabin is the highest temp flux. Suggest you inspect the moulded rail support for drips and the foam lining for mositure. I would be interested to hear what you discover.
Thanks Jim

Jim, Just for info, my yard has resealed all the saloon windows to stop leaks. The leaks did not all happen at the same time -each winter bought a new leak (the boat is a 2006 32i). Under guaranty. I discoverd one leak by tracing water accumulated in the locker by the waterheater -it had trickled down via the loudspeaker. On the galley side, I traced the leak back from water in the underbunk locker. In both cases some water had accumulated on the wooden strip under the curtains -the curtains were wet. Philip

Hi, i had the same problem in my So32i 2006 since the past year. I had tried to contact to the manufacturer via email but I can not find the right email address in google. Would anybody tell me the email for LÓceane des plastics ?

Just one other thing to consider in addition to the foregoing posts. I have had problems with water accumulating in the space to port underneath the hanging locker in the forward cabin of my SO 32 (not the i model).
Have you stuck your finger in the water and tasted it? When I did this after a long sail, I found it was salt water and traced it to the electric anchor windlass. The seals on these units aren't bullet proof and I have rebuilt mine to stop it leaking.
