I just saw that the BOOT convention/trade fair/boat show is being held as of next weekend in Duesseldorf. I will be going to see where I can spend my ill-gotten gains. Will any from this forum be there as well?

I just got back from the show. The new Jeanneau 57 was presented and I was very impressed, i've always wanted a boat with a garage; and the other features were also very impressive. I am tempted to "upgrade"...
I also had a viewing arranged with Oyster and Amel and while both were very impressive and overall superior to their Jeanneau counterparts the difference in price more than even things out.

I am attending the San Diego boat show this week, and the Jeanneau 57 is supposed to be presented- I hope to see her. Just out of curiosity, which Oyster were you able to tour?

I looked at the new 575 Oyster and the 54 that they had at the show. I loved the Jeanneau 57's garage and spaciousness and really should check if the pricing in the US is less expensive than in Germany. While I haven't thought about getting a new boat before, I am very tempted - perhaps if someone made a grand offer for "Zanshin" or I won the lottery (note to self... buy tickets).

Agreed the garage is very cool. We were able to test sail last weekend- hit 11.1 knots in 19 true, with following seas, heeled over so the rail was almost in the water. Great fun!! That boat showed no weather helm and was rock steady and solid. Anybody got around $800k I could borrow?

I think that if I'd test-sailed the 57 I probably would have signed the deal right then and there and found a bank to rob for the requisite funds I'm still negotiating a purchase but am hesitant about spending that much in a new boat just to watch that value melt away the minute I sail away from the dock - it makes the depreciation ones sees on cars seem like nothing.

Hi Zanshin, you talk about cars, I have taken the step 10 years ago, from BMW to Porsche Turbo with 450 HP. but I got to much tickets from the police. Since one year I'm back to BMW with speed control. What I'm saying is, that was a great time with great fun. I believe with the 57 you will have the same great time and for your 49 we have to talk about.

I got away from cars, but I still fly gliders and two weeks ago I got my motorcycle out of the garage because I thought that it would finally thaw out here in Germany - silly me! Luckily, this piece of American iron is not the fastest on the street so I'll let the Ducati's get the tickets for me.
