A pelican hook on a gateway of our 2000 SO40 fell overboard. Has anyone in the US or Canada replaced one of these? If so, which make/model hook from what source? I'm assuming a metric thread which is a problem on this side of the Atlantic.

Many pelicans are UNF threaded, despite the French origin of the craft it may be easy to get the correct items.
I suggest measuring the thread of a remaining pelican hook or end of the cable fitting onto which the pelican fits with a tape, measure over ten threads then divide by ten to give you the threads ‘pitch’ , a quick google search on UNF threads will soon determine what you have on your boat and enable a targeted search for the correct item.

On my 2014 boat the pelican hooks are made by Ronstan. I believe 6mm. Very inexpensive compared to others.

6mm seems about right. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my caliper with me when I worked on the boat today.

This is bizarre. The thread diameter is 6.35 mm = 1/4" and it is left-handed!
This is a French built boat. Hardware ought to be metric-sized wherever feasible.
There is no paired turnbuckle that necessitates a left hand thread.
Am I allowed to scream?

All four sliding-collar gate hooks have been replaced by C.S. Johnson #21-81 pelican hooks. These have ¼-28 left-handed threads. The Admiral hated the original hooks and is now pleased.
