Existing clutches are Spinlock XL. The main halyard is slipping. Found a clutch service kit which replaced the cam. Still slipping. So put new 12mm polyester main halyard on . Slipping even worse.
What is the equivalent to the spinlock XL will the XTS do the job or do you need to go to XX power clutch?

Interesting. While i have not had any such problems (yet?) and i have not noticed anyone else in the 43ds group reporting this type of slipping, who is the rope manufacturer *****w rope you are using for the halyards? I wonder of the sheath of the rope you are using has an unusual lubricant. Or the previous rope you were using has left some sort of waxy deposit behind. My boat is mostly Marlow & Liros ropes for running rigging.
My first suggestion would be to thoroughly clean the Spinlocks with detergent since possibly just a new cam is not enough.
I am following this thread to see what solution works Andrew "Genial Bee"

I don't have an answer regarding problems with your clutches, but I did experience greater slipping after replacing my halyard several years ago.
The new halyard was the same diameter as the original, but the cover was smoother. Since the clutch was able to handle a larger line, I inserted a small (2mm diameter) rope inside the core of the new halyard in the area where it passes through the clutch. The inserted line was probably 2 feet long, so its placement wasn't critical.
Inserting a small rope inside the halyard is fairly easy with a new halyard, and difficult to impossible with a used one. So if you want to try this technique, I suggest doing it soon. It completely solved my problems with slipping.
