I have recently had to remove a seized ball gate valve, toilet outlet, from the hull of my SO 40. The gate valve came away from the skin fitting easily but because of space restrictions and tightness it was necessary to cut the 1.5” pipe close to the pipe connector which screws into the gate valve. I have a new gate valve and am now trying to fit the bronze pipe connector back into the pipe. I have soaked the pipe in boiling water, applied copious washing up liquid to reduce friction but I cannot get the connector back into the pipe. The connector and pipe are the originals so there is no change of size anywhere. Is there anything else I can try?. Does the plastic toilet outlet pipe harden with age? Would a length of new pipe be easier to deal with? Advice welcomed. Thanks

The hoses can be a bear to work with. I have not worked with the Jeanneau hoses yet but on my previous boat I used a heat gun (or hair dryer) to heat the hose until it was soft. Soap or silicon grease will reduce friction. Once hot the hose must be pushed on fast before the barb can cool it off. As you say getting new hose would probably help and will reduce odors anyway. But it is still not going to be easy.

I have just replace hose's on our toilet, the 1 1/2" hose from toilet to tank went fine, but the 2" hose from tank to outlet was a beast, lots of @*!%@* going on, the problem, inside dia of hose was 51mm, outside dia from tank was 53mm and seacock fitting was 54mm......French idea I take it. I made a 54mm mandrel, put a little bit of oil on it, took the heatgun to the hose and pushed it over the mandrel, let it set, did this to other end as well, then went down to the boat with my well prepped hose and the job was a breeze And new hose's does make for a better smelling boat. Cheers
