Hi all, It’s time to replace the upper rudder bracket, it’s completely rusted through unfortunately. Does anyone know if the bracket can be removed while rudder remains in place? Does the top bolt and flange there hold the rudder in or is it held around the lower section/quadrant? Also would someone have dimensions information and know a place to source the rubber bushes/bearings (other than a customer manufacturer)? www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/Rudderupperbearingsupport.htmlThanks heaps in advance, Cheers, Nic

Did some measurements this afternoon and the rudder will need to be dropped 10cm or so. Will attempt tomorrow in water!

Good luck, fairly sure the rudder can be lowered whilst in the water, as the tube should be above the waterline. It will float so you may need to get a rope to haul it down. As you say, quadrant will need to be off. Do take some photos please. Malcolm

Rudder definitly floats . Removed mine ( 45.2 ) attached eye bolt and rope to thread in top of rudder (12mm from memory ) had to pull from underneath and push from top to get it to slide out . Rudder floats shaft end down. Hope this helps

Finally got around to getting this bracket removed: All went pretty smoothly, disconnected steering cables, removed quadrant, sanded back the glassed over bolt heads and used a dremel to make enough room for a size 17 socket so I could undo all 4x bolts towards the stern. The rudder was easy enough to push down, used some rope to put into the the hole where the pin that goes through the top of the rudder shaft so I could lower the rudder enough and have it stop and not drop all the way out of the boat. Finally put some trusty pegs and amd bold cutter handles around the rudder shaft at the top of the fibre glass sleeve, this is to provide a sort temporary bearing/bush to avoid the rudder moving around and putting excess preasure on the lower bearing. Does anyone know where to order the rubber and nylon bush/bearings? Glassed over bolts: Half Removed: Dirty Quadrant: Quadrant Cleaned: Rusty Bracket: All removed:

Great progress HKSMonaro (I used to have a Holden too!) Looking forward to seeing final photos. You should be able to get OEM replacement bearings from one of these dealers: www.jeanneauaustralia.com/dealers/Some people also recommend Jefa steering in Denmark, who have an agent in Queensland: Southern Seas Marine Gold Coast City Marina A6 Waterways Drive Coomera 4209 Queensland Tel: +61-(0)7-55029666 Fax: +61-(0)7-55029777 sales@southernseasmarine.com www.southernseasmarine.comBut you may have to measure the existing ones. Good luck Malcolm

Thanks mate, I've reached out too them!
the parts dont look like anything special, might be able to get them made/machined instead which I would guess would be a allot cheaper.
