Hi All,
I've been lurking for a bit trying to gain some insights and finally just closed on a 2001 Sun Odyssey 34.2. We're in Massachusetts and will spend the next month or so trying to sneak in a few sails before we haul out for winter storage. Looking forward to learning more about the boat, sailing and cruising.
Thanks! -Thad

Welcome Thad
Congratulations on your 34.2. We had one for about 3/4 years. The joinery is to a much higher standard than newer Jeanneau's for sure.
Which engine have you? There were several options, we had a small Nanni, which felt rather under powered.
We still managed to go quite a long way in her from our then base on the East Coast of the UK. Furthest was the Baltic, Copenhagen, Venn Island, Helsingbore etc.
Where are you going to keep her?
Enjoy your sailing whilst the weather still holds!
Cheers Malcolm

Hi Malcolm, Ours has the Yanmar 3GM30F at 27Hp which seems to move her along pretty well, though my only experience so far was the pre purchase survey.
Right now were on a mooring in Swansea on the south coast of Massachusetts on the border with Rhode Island.
We've decided to stay at that marina for this winter and in the spring we'll bring her around to Mattapoisett Harbor nearer to our home.
It sounds like you got some great cruising in on your 34.2. We're looking forward to cruising the east coast of the U.S. and Canada to build up our sailing skill set.
Cheers to you,
-Thad

Hi Thad
I do like Yanmar! That should push her well as you say.
Enjoy your cruising.
