Hi all,
Noticed that the drum on the profurl had pulled out of the base exposing bearings and grease, I’m guessing the bearings and retaining clips have failed and it’s in need of a rebuild kit.
Can you remove the forestay safely without affecting the mast so I can remove the profurl unit?
Cheers, nic

Best talk to a rigger before trying this. A mistake can be very expensive.

I just replaced my 45.2 headstay last month, if you use a halyard to hold the mast, I went around the anchor roller and back to a winch, you can then unscrew the headstay clevis and the furler drum will drop off after you take out the set screws from the foil. Mark your backstay and loosen also. Profurl now owned by Wichard in NC, had very limited parts, had to buy them through a dealer, I used Torresen Marine in Muskegon MI, very helpful folks.

BTW, no need to take off the headstay at the top if you can put the bow right up to the dock and work from there. Helps to fashion a safety net around the pulpit, I used an old bed sheet.
