Hi, new to the forum, really appreciate all the great info here. I'm looking for some advice and any tips...I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on an s1 with a Yamaha 200. My main question is, how does the boat handle offshore?
The majority of our time will be in the bays and the ICW (a lot of shallow water), and an occasional single overnight on the hook. But I would like to occasionally do some fishing in the Gulf around 30 mi out. Although I was able to check the performance in the bays, of course I can't really take it offshore before buying, since the boat is in Maryland on the Chesapeake. I also understand the greenhouse effect, but I'm not quite as concerned since we head north during the dead of summer. I've been boating for over 40 years and have had several boats, and I do like the versatility of the 795 weekender. For comparison,I also liked the Sailfish 270 WAC, definitely more of an offshore boat, but while that hull is great for offshore, the deep vee and overall design means you have to constantly adjust the trim tabs.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
