My friend, the journalist Peter Poland, who often writes about Jeanneau's in the UK Practical Boat Owner magazine is preparing an article on the new Sun Odyssey 380.
He is hopeful that a recent owner might be prepared to answer the following questions:
Was the SO 380 your first Jeanneau? Or did happy sailing in other Jeanneaus influence your choice?
What keel version of the SO 380 do you have? Is this keel a success? Or would you prefer a change?
What are the best points of the SO 380 under sail?
How does she handle light weather …. and heavy winds?
Which accommodation layout do you have? Does it work well? Any problems?
Anything you would like to change or improve on your SO 380?
Are you happy with the yacht’s build quality?
Anyone able to respond might be able to have photos of their Boat published. If you prefer to be anonymous, simply message me with your answers and I will put you in touch with Peter.
Many thanks Malcolm

I have a 2023 SO 380
I am happy with the design and features however very unhapy with the quality, fit and finish
I have had numerous problems with the jib furling system that is finally being replaced. I have had port windows that leak, floorboards that needed to be replaced, door handles fall off, and the latest is a failure of the transmission that is still being diagnosed. The boat has been usable for less than 50% of the time since i took delivery last march. Jenneau has been working with me but progress is slow.... I have the shoal keel model and 40 hp yanmar power....

It certainly seems that Jeanneau have lost there way on quality control issues of late. Guess the Furler was not there problems, was it a Facnor? We gave up with our Facnor on our 2008 39i and we recently replaced that with a Profurl. The Facnor cannot even have the bearings replaced! Better luck soon. Malcolm
