Refurbished c90 w fitted with original st70. All diagnostics pass but selecting auto there is no Drive Detected.

You don’t mention which auto pilot you have but I am guessing a 4000 series Raymarine.
On some previous set ups I have had , the head/ display unit and fluxgate compass were powered separately from the drive, wheel or ram, due to power requirements, and unless both halves of the power chain were energised the C90 won’t see the pilot system, so you can have a display saying ‘stand by’ but no data link to the plotter.
Study the seatalk wires, the fiddly little spades often crust a little and give a ‘dodgy’ connection, sometimes just unplugging things and then re plugging them in resolves the issue.
Hope that gives you something to fiddle with.

Start by unplugging every single item on your SeaTalk NG network, including triducer, wind instruments, every display unit, etc... keeping the minimum for the auto pilot, then try again...
I experienced something very similar a log time ago and it was caused by the wind instrument pod...
Hope this helps, Cheers!
