OK, I should know the answer to this but let me ask a really stupid question...
Assuming the survey on the boat we are buying is positive, we should be moving her from Italy to Greece sometime in May. - Boat is EU VAT paid, always been in the EU, currently on Italian flag (will be changing probably to Polish but that will take a good couple of months, I expect, so probably not relevant here) - People: one dual British/Swiss (Swiss passport gives free movement), one British with Schengen residence permit - passport never stamped at IT/GR ferry ports as internal to Schengen
What, if anything, do we need to check out of Italy and into Greece? Boat? People?
Thanks in advance

Critical that you get evidence from the existing owner of where the boat was moored on 31st December 2020. Preferably as a statement from the marina, or failing that at least invoice copies of where she was moored etc. If you are not a CA member (which I think is great and excellent value) PM me and I will send you some info. Polish registration sounds a good move, seeing more and more yachts with that flag. Malcolm

Boat has had two owners - a German in Mallorca then an Italian in Italy. We have a copy of the original purchase invoice by the German showing VAT paid. Is 31 Dec 2020 really relevant as the boat has had no contact whatsoever with the UK until citizenship of the new owners (us)? As an EU boat with an FOM person and spouse (with Schengen residence) on board, do we actually need to check out of Italy or into Greece? Anything you can send by PM would be great. I've checked Noonsite, but they only mention EU boats and non-EU boats. I guess it might be worth asking Julia of British in Greece

Hi Pipemma
You are probably correct regarding the December 2020 status, but worth getting it if you can anyway just in case.
Will PM some notes tomorrow.

Ah, also forgot, we both hold Greek beige cards from before Brexit anyway, so I suspect we don't need to bother anyone on arrival in Greece?
31 Dec 2020 is only relevant for UK connections; I think what you mean is it wouldn't hurt to have some evidence the boat hasn't been out of the EU for a period in excess of 18 months, triggering loss of VAT status?
