I think access to the electrics behind the dash is decent but there isn’t a huge amount of extra space for fitting additional equipment. I recently fitted a Garmin GMI20 data screen above the front windscreen next to the searchlight joystick. In order to free space I took an end joint off the NMEA2000 backbone and ran a cable to the void where the AIS radio is installed in the void over the driver’s side door. I then crated an extension backbone with 3 drop links, for the radios, GMI20 and a spare.
I am considering using a BlueSea fuse unit for 6 connections with a supply straight from a battery. This would make it simple for adding things like uprated AIS, amps, screen & NVRs for camera systems etc. Has anyone done this before and if so where is the best place to locate it? I see owners have fitted things like sound system amps but not sure where they best to locate them where they are going to remain dry but remain accessible for cables.

Stu
I have a fuse block in this area attached to the drop down door and near the main fuse panel . Power comes from the wiring feeding the main fuse panel. I can get a pic if that might be helpful.

Capt’n Lynn Yes that would be great to see it. Even with the extra fuses there I am still unsure where units could be mounted like an amp for the sound system. Thanks Stu

The factory fuse blocks are on the left. The small one on the right was added. It’s full and hopefully I don’t need any more :,) Capt’n Lynn
