Thank you to everyone who has offered advice and support over the years I've been on the forum. However, the time has come for us to sell Cloud Nine and downsize. Cloud Nine is a 2009 Sun Odyssey 44i with 3/4 cabins and 2 heads, located in the Ionian. Although we have chartered her lightly, we have loved her and considered her as our private boat. As a result she has been well maintained, with lots of bells and whistles, as you will see from the ad in the link below. Highlights include radar, AIS, Raymarine Axiom 9 plotter, bow thruster, cruising chute and pole, new batteries and charger/monitor, 25kg Rocna with 80m of 10mm chain, bespoke iroko cockpit table and surrounds for the engine controls and cockpit shower, bespoke bosun's locker. Please feel free to share the listing below with anyone you think might be interested! jeanneau.apolloduck.com/boat/jeanneau-sun-odyssey-44i-for-sale/724768

Dear all
I'm bumping this now the season is approaching, in the hope that someone here or someone you know might be interested.
We've been very disappointed in the broker we put her with, the communication was terrible and I didn't think he was at all pro-active. We are now listing privately (and I've dropped the price accordingly). The new link is in the first post.
She is now registered on the SSR.
We've loved Cloud Nine dearly, but it's now time for her to find her new people to love her as we have.
Thanks. Pipemma

Good luck with the sale Emma. She looks fantastic. You are very welcome to remain an honorary member, even if you go to a different brand 😎. Do you have any thoughts on what yachts you may downside to? Cheers Malcolm

Thank you Malcolm, that's very kind of you.
We think she's great, which is why I'm so disappointed in the broker. Our gardiennage guy was the one telling us about the (few) viewings, not the broker. Zero feedback. Zero offers. It was me making marketing suggestions but "no, no, there'll be a flurry of interest after Christmas". I found out this weekend there had been a viewing in early December which the couple left beaming all over their faces - I didn't know about it, there was no feedback and no offer. He eventually - a couple of weeks ago - said maybe it was the fact she had been a charter boat - but he knew since November that we were reflagging and could have amended the advertising blurb to make it more neutral. I was having to chase up every few weeks to find out what - if anything - was going on. Basically a total lack of communication. Sigh.
We've offered and lost out on two boats so far, both offered by the same (not our original) broker - who don't seem any better (the guy no-showed when we were considering them for the sale); a Bavaria 38 Ocean that was over-priced and needed another 20k to bring it up to the spec in the ad, and a Southerly 115 which they are still advertising as available but tell me is sold. Before they confirmed it was sold, we actually offered over asking price, but I'm not 100% convinced they passed on the offer. Maybe I'm just rubbing people up the wrong way.
We currently have our eye on a Sunbeam 37 - but absolutely have to sell Cloud Nine to have a chance of that. I don't think Cloud Nine's asking price is over-optimistic looking at what else seems to be available (there are 4 in Croatia asking €135k ex VAT and one in the UK just dropped to £110k ex VAT), so I don't know what's going on.
In short, we're looking for a 2-cabin centre cockpit sloop, 36-39 foot.

Well, after a slightly stressful and stupidly busy month, it looks like the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place.
This week we signed the sale agreement to sell Cloud Nine, and our written offer and deposit on the Sunbeam 37 has been accepted. Would you believe, we viewed the Sunbeam at exactly the same time as our buyer was viewing Cloud Nine - if that's not stars aligning...
Now just waiting on surveys on each boat in w/c 17 April and all being well, the sale of Cloud Nine should complete by the end of the month and our purchase of the Sunbeam 37 the week after.
No doubt we will still be picking your collective brains here - this is one of the most active and supportive owners' forums I know, and I shall be very happy to remain an honorary member.

After an extremely stressful couple of months, I'm sorry to say the sale of Cloud Nine fell through - the buyer pulled out literally one hour before acceptance would have been automatic. The experience has left me a little shaken, if I'm honest. Anyhow, Cloud Nine is back on the market and we have dropped the price a bit for a quick sale. She is now lying in S Italy (Gulf of Taranto, very cheap and easy to get to via Ryanair to Brindisi) with a new broker who seems to be significantly more serious. If you are after a well-maintained and very well-equipped SO44i, or know someone who is, please do get in touch with the broker. www.abayachting.com/en/detail/Jeanneau-Sun-Odyssey-44i-44-I-usata-2008/Wx0OBX4bGUiBEmiMwJ61JA

I'm happy sad to report that yesterday Cloud Nine was surveyed successfully and the deed of sale signed at the notary in Italy. The buyer is importing her, so there's still that process to complete before the we get our money, but fundamentally Cloud Nine is now SOLD.
I guess I need to change my avatar now.

Congratulations on the sale!
You mentioned downsizing in your original post. What are you considering now?

Hi both, yes it has been a saga - this is effectively third time lucky. We've taken a lower price, because at the time the last sale fell through, we were already committed to buying our new-to-us boat, both legally and by inclination. Thankfully we were able to cover the cash flow for now, but as long as Cloud Nine wasn't sold, she was costing us money, and would have required us to take out a mortgage for our house project had she still been unsold by the end of October.
So what did we get? We've bought a 2001 Sunbeam 37 - two cabins, centre cockpit, and a better size for us two-up all the time. We're no longer teaching or chartering, so we can please ourselves now - and leave our stuff on the boat full time, which we're finding a surprisingly difficult change of mindset.

The Sunbeam's are lovely looking boats, out of our price range though. Where are you based in Greece. We are currently in Gouvia for this season, back in UK at the moment, but will be back there September to November and will head south to Cephalonia etc. Next season somewhere in the Aegean. Would be great to meet at some point. Malcolm and Eileen "Serica of Woodbridge"
