Hi Guys, I haven't heard anyone complaining about this so I might be alone here but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm up on my third topmost vang block now since the previous two shredded themselves to pieces (the second one was an undersized spare that I was about to change, erm, anyday now ) I'm not even using the vang much. I never really pulled it tight, and if so, just done so by hand (it's powerful enough to not need a winch). All I ever do is taking the slack out. I'm usually not running so I could probably even almost live without it. So anyway, long story short, what happened is twice that I took the slack out (more just to avoid it dangling around and cause unnecessary noise and wear) and when I eased the main out on the sheet it made bang and the block was gone (there was a slight wake from a passing ship, so the sail filled suddenly, but it was nothing severe...) Now I could simply put in a bigger top block but when changing the broken one I also realized there's quite some wear on the fitting on the boom (where the shackle goes). I will try to take pictures of this as well. No one else had problems with their vang? Tom SY Vega
