Hello sailors,
New to the site. You all probably get a lot of these questions, but I’m hoping someone can help. Taking a look at a 1985 sunrise 34 this weekend. I’ve done a lot of looking on the web and found very very little information about this model. I wonder if any of you have one or have any experience/knowledge that might help when I look at the boat. I’ve heard that the thru-holes were not terribly stout on this model and should be looked at carefully. Anything else I might consider? Overall impressions of how she sails would be great as well. I would be sailing in the San Francisco Bay and up and down the coast. Thanks!
Steve

No one? Gots to be somebody out there who knows something about these boats. Anyone have any idea where I might find information?
Appreciate any thoughts you might have.
Thanks.

Hi Stefanojo, I just recently sold my 1985 SunRise 34 in Puget Sound. I had the boat for 11 years. Mine was a low hour boat with fresh sails. for inland waterways of my area and the Bay Area it is a very easy boat to sail. We sailed short handed a lot. Mine was the tri cabin version, and it would have been more comfortable as a dual cabin. I love the look of the boat and the build quality. Only real negatives was at this age the ceiling liner foam is failing and they sag. There is a blog on sailrite on how to put new ones in. We also replaced the head and hoses and holding tank. Sails and competes well in Wednesday night races. I loved the boat and only sold it as I want a blue water boat.

Awesome. Thanks for your reply, Pogyhouse!!! Just saw the boat today and she looks good. This one is a duel cabin and it looks quite comfortable inside. I didn’t look specifically at the ceiling liner foam, but also didn’t notice anything. The cabin looked in good shape. Next time I go to see it, I’ll definitely take a closer inspection. The gentleman selling it seem to be pretty upfront about a couple of the issues (leaks) with nothing major. He also just replace the head and hoses. Glad to hear you liked it. Besides selling it in the Bay, hoping to be able to sail up and down the coast a little bit. Have any experience with coastal cruising?
Again, thanks so much for your input. I’ve had a really hard time finding any information at all about this boat. Current owner does have all the manuals. Thanks for the saleite resource. Wondering if you have any other resources where I might find information about the boat.

Jeanneau's of this age were well built and have lasted the passage of time well with reasonable maintenance. Unusual for any osmosis and the interior woodwork is of a high standard.
Would love a copy of the manuals to put on the owners website if possible.
Hope you purchased it and ate now enjoying your boat.
