So, My MI built 895 2x200s has a pair of cylinders 8.34 Seastars and a 2.0 cu in/turn helm pump. This set up leaves you with 8.4 turns stop to stop. Please let me know if anyone has an 895 with a single steering cylinder and let me know the specs. If you have a 4.5 turn helm this is probably your boat.
I'm not happy with the steering as well (2xF200). Stumbled upon this doc and from page 12 it looks like dual-cylinder setup without power assist is expected to have ~8 turns. Upgrade to 2.4cu and add Power Assist should improve the situation. I'm currently clarifying and estimating what would it cost me to go through it.
