Hello, Nest has been vacated (Yesss!) and making the leap back to a cruising life. This will be out third time having done it once before starting a family, then a second time with the kids. Also going back to a monohull after a cat and are attracted to the apparent brightness of the 43DS salon. We are located on Lake Erie ( Canadian side) and would love to chat with anyone looking to sell their boat. Even if you aren’t selling, would love to correspond directly about the 43 as we search for our next live aboard. Thanks to all in advance. Mark ( and Lisa) www.steelestreetoceaneers.com

Hi Mark and Lisa. We have one (2001) - very enthusiastic about the 43ds. She's not for sale but happy to pass along our thoughts.

Hello Robin, yes, would appreciate to hear about any specific areas of concern with the 43DS. I am aware of the compression post issue. Keel bolts of concern ( age dependent I assume). You can message me directly if you prefer. thanks, Mark ( and Lisa)

Mark, In addition to checking the block under the compression post for pre-2004 models there are a couple of other typical things you might expect to replace. 1) the SS holding tank(s) which eventually corrode at the seams. Best to replace w 10mm HDPE. Most of us HV had to replace the original SS tank(s). 2) the SS muffler which is tucked away inside the port engine support beam. A devil to get out. Read the story for replacement in the 43ds Model Specific section that Malcolm set up for us. If you find one you will love this model. IMHO better than the 45ds in terms of hull construction, interior wood finish (real instead of plastic look-alike), and without those long saloon forward windows which make the inside into a hot-house in the summer. Also the aft cabins have 3 opening ports each side for better air circulation whereas the 45ds only has 2 each side Best of luck in yr search Andrew "Genial Bee"
