The cleats (all 6) on our 43DS creak horribly loud as we shift around in the slip and they go under load. I have noticed there are what appear to be white nylon bushings around the vertical legs of the cleats and wonder if these may be the source.
Does anyone else have these? And if so, what have you done to quiet them?
Cheers, and happy new year to everyone.

If the cleats are creaking then it means that they are moving and this is a bad thing! Are you certain that it is the cleats and not the docklines that are creaking? I've found that soaking the lines in fabric softener overnight stops my docklines from creaking (overly much).

One other way to stop the lines creaking which I have used to get some sleep, when nothing else is to hand, is to squirt neat washing up liquid where the lines go through fair leads and sometimes all over the cleated rope , it only works for 4 hours in the rain, but the 4 hours sleep is good.
If they shut up when squirted, then that's one issue, if they keep creaking they need investigating ..... maybe just tightening up their nuts, a moving cleat will one day cause damage to the deck.

I ran the line thru the center of the cleat to avoid the white “bushings” and all noise stopped, at that cleat at least. So it is definitely the bushing spinning on the vertical cleat legs.
Does anyone else have these on theirs cleats?

I can't recall if I had bushings on my 43DS cleats. Have you tried a spray lubricant like Teflon between the metal and the nylon?

Does anyone else have these on theirs cleats? I would love to see a picture of these cleats. I can't imagine bushings around the vertical legs. Wouldn't that decrease the friction with the rope? Cleats are supposed to work by holding on the line, not letting it roll off.

YES!
We have the same cleats and the squeak is real! What was causing it was our stiff lines on the bushing and NOT the bushing on the metal cleat or cleat movement
Soaked them in freshwater (lots of rinse) and fabric softener (although not sure what the effective ingredient was, the copious fresh water rinse or the fabric softener) and the squeak is gone. I assume this has to be a routine maintenance item if you use your lines in the salt. Also wipe the cleat down with fresh when I can.
FWIW: We also have fender covers and the fenders squeak too when pushed on the dock. Ive solved that issue with wiping the fender with coconut oil (only thing available) and then slipping the fabric cover over it. The rubbing is largely gone and the oil doesn't absorb into the polyester cover.
