The above boat has an in board diesel engine and as a result has a keel bar fixed to the forward GDP hull and passing under the propeller and rudder. The purpose of the keel bar is to protect the prop and rudder from floating debris and importantly any grounding issue.
After 16 years the fabricated bar has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. It has been removed, but there seems to be an issue in having a new bar fabricated. Has any Forum member suffered similar problems and knows of a solution? Is it possible to find a technical drawing of the bar which will assist in the fabrication of a new bar?
Any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks.
John

take the old one to a good fabricator and they should be able to copy it if it is too far gone the fabricator will have to get to your boat, now the £££ are increasing big time

I got one fabricated last year. Took the original to a local fabricator/welder. Mine as broken at the welds on the flat part. I had the option of stainless steel or get it galvanized. I went the galvanized route as it was far less expensive. In total it cost abour €120 It was 77mm from the center of the right hand hole on the bottom/flat part to the left hand side hole on the prop side. Below are photos of the part pre galvanizes.

Hi Gazaa, I need a keel bar because of sailing in undeep waters. Doe you have a drawing or some extra pictures of the bar available so I can make my own also? Thanks.
