Hi all,
On my NC11 we have the attached 230 volts panel with main switch. Switching on indicates the gauge 230 and red led, switching off lead to an indication 0 volts…….. However in both cases there is power on the outlets, battery chargers etc. My guess should be switching off is no power! My question: what is it switching?

I've just gone through a similar question from a neighboring catamaran and it turned out that they have an inverter which feeds the electrical outlets without lighting up the panel. The LED on the panel only shows if the breaker itself is powered up, if the electrics are wired (incorrectly) past the panel then you don't see anything there.
Is your NC11 factory standard and are you the first owner, or could someone have played around with the wiring between factory and you?

There are earlier owners, however as far as I can see there is no change done at the electrical system. I just added a Victron Multi Plus converter by ‘cutting’ the incoming wire just behind the breaker, so no change in the system. Only thing I did was disconneting both battery chargers by switching of their breakers. This mean that when I am charging my batteries with the Victron, I always have full 230 volts power, no possibility to switch off.

Do you have the user manual with the AC schematic diagram? Can you post the AC page here or link to the manual? With the breaker "off" and no inverter in the equation, the plugs should not have power.

Hello Hanzel,
Given that you have installed an inverter after the mains breaker, it seems reasonable that the inverter will be providing power always irrespective of shore power availability or not. If I understand it correctly, when you turn mains power off, you still power to all outlets which is what the inverter is designed to do.

Trevor

Correct Trevor, however as the inverter indeed is after the mains breaker but before the switch panel it should disconnect. Also before I installed the inverter the power was always on, panel switched on or off, no difference.
