I’ve been struggling a bit with my anchor and windlass lately and I think my 795 may be missing a roller. Please see the photo below. There is no roller towards the end, but there is holes to mount an additional one. I noticed when I’m pulling up my anchor the line just rubs along the metal frame, which seems like it will chafe the line and weaken it. Am I missing a piece here or is my setup normal? I bought my 2017 795 used last fall, so its been that way since I purchased it. If I am missing one, any recommendations on a replacement? I also just installed a cleat to tie the anchor rode when deployed to relieve stress on the windlass. I put it right in front of the windlass and installed with through bolts and washers, but do you think a backing plate is necessary here? I haven’t used it yet.

Hi! It would be very helpful if your uploaded photos were little larger. They appear too tiny at least on my iPad screen to get a picture.

Sorry, I tried but I can not open the pictures in my computer. The problem I had with my anchor rollers seems to be different. All together there should be 3 rollers. I changed the first on the tip of the bow, with one that has a channel for the 8 mm. chain. The 12 kg anchor given from the factory when the boat is delivered also glides well in this channel type roller. This way I was able to stop the chain from jumping out from the rollers to the hull. Probably there are other solutions to rectify this problem.

So after some searching, I realized I was missing a roller. I’m guessing maybe the previous owner had a different style anchor that did not fit properly with the 3rd roller so it was removed. I just replaced it with a 2.5” lewmar roller yesterday and The anchor sits much higher and more secure now. I think that will solve my issues. Has anyone changed their fluke for a delta anchor on a 795 though? I’m considering it, but am curious how well it would fit and the best size/weight.

I've just changed the stock danforth style anchor for a 10kg Rocna, it doesn't sit perfectly, and I was going to see if I could find a large diameter roller for the first one (that you were missing.) My friend has a delta on his 755 and it seems to fit well enough on the stock roller.
Anyone know how/if you can access the back of the four bolts holding the roller in place? Swapping out the assembly would get the best fit. I hope there is a backing plate, etc in there.
I made a bridle with a chain hook to take the weight off the windlass while at anchor.

I haven’t figured out any access to the backside of the anchor locker or the mounting plate. Would love to know how people have gotten to the inside of that cavity.
