This is our second season with our 2012 NC11 and this year we're moving it from Maryland to our home port in Michigan.
I have to say we're delighted with the boat's qualities as a long distance cruiser. Trying to stay ahead of some bad weather we completed 247 nautical miles (457 km) in a long day from Annapolis to New York. We ended the day in a choppy 6' swell in the Atlantic ocean and the boat handled it very well.
Fuel economy is outstanding and although I did refuel that day, I'm running about 1.4 NMPG at cruise.
All boats are compromises but we feel the NC11 is good at what it does the more distance we cover.

Sounds like a fun trip. I assume you're planning to take the Erie canal all the way from Albany to lake Erie at Buffalo, since you won't be able to use the Welland canal due to the Canadian border being closed. I'd love to see your NC11 when you pass by my home in Pittsford.

Don, We are overnighting in Fairport tonight. Very close to you! We spent 6 days stuck at one of the lock walls waiting for lock 17 of the Erie Canal to be fixed. On our way early tomorrow (like really early) to move on to Buffalo. We have a stock standard 2012 NC11. Wish it was my old 43' for higher hull speed on the western part of the canal with the 10mph speed limit. At 7-8 we are pushing. Cell 248-797-4020

Hi Richard,
Well, I've missed you. My wife and I are in Sackets Harbor (2+ hours away) enjoying the weekend. We used to live in Fairport about 30 years ago. They have nice facilities on the canal (presuming they've completed the reconstruction). By this time, you've probably passed through Pittsford, which is basically the next stop along the canal.
Enjoy your trip! Don

Thanks Don, Sorry I missed you. These are all pretty towns and a delight to visit.
The NC11 is a delight to handle in the locks and is a great canal cruiser. With the side door it's so easy to grab a line or cable/pole. One single connection midship is all you need if you have the large round type ball fenders.
