Hi There, I am considering buying an 8.95 Offshore, having previously owned a Storebro 40 and currently a Fiskar Buster Magnum 20, with a Mariner 115. Having watched a couple of videos I am struggling to understand the likely performance of the 8.95 with 2x 200’s and in particular , the likely speed at which the hull starts planing? The Solent is our main cruising area , with its infamous short chop, so speed is often restricted by the waves. One video has suggested that planing does not occur on the 8.95 until circa 4000 revs / 23kts. I would normally expect a speed nearer 18kts as a reasonable cruising speed. Can any member give me a fuller picture of likely speeds / revs and the planing threshold?

Captured these numbers yesterday on my 2021 895. Moderately choppy. Have to accelerate pretty aggressively to get on plane at about 18-20 mph (17-18 knots) otherwise just plows and planes about 24 mph. (Haven’t had the boat long (20 hours on the engines) and wasn’t testing planing speed)
