The paint or decal or whatever it is on my NC895 windshield is peeling off. My dealer just told me this isn’t covered under warranty. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? There is also a thread for this under Model Specific, NC and Merey Fisher 695, 795, etc.

nc, This link should take you to the picture first posted on the subject. The paint, or whatever it is that’s applied across the top outside of the windshield intended to provide a nice appearance, is peeling off of the windshield leaving a ragged bottom edge that looks like crap. Mine has become worse over time. I didn’t think to take a recent picture but could do that. I’ve been told by the Sundance dealer and a boat technician that this is a common problem so I would expect that some other forum members have seen this. jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/8546/windshield-black-paint-missingThanks Capt’n Lynn

The fix from the "Factory" was to have Sundance apply black spray paint, when this was covered under warranty a few weeks back. Unfortunately/fortunately there is not enough room to get the spray can under the roof over hang. The "fix" was also not a long term fix. I have asked Sundance to go back to Jeanneau for a solution.
The tech did explore just removing the paint completely but the chalking job between the roof and window is so poor it would create an eye sore. Adding a decal on the inside might address the problem but that would need to come from the "Factory".
Just one more item Jeanneau has struggled to address properly. Still waiting on a new bow thruster insert after the first one failed, no ETA.

Hi Fritz
It’s interesting that you were told a fix under warranty was applying paint and that I was told the problem isn’t covered under warranty. Did anyone from sundance tell you they (sundance) were applying a decal to the inside of the windshield to conceal it? I’m wondering if it’s worth trying to track down the glass manufacturer to see if they have a solution.
Goodness it’s terrible that you still haven’t received a replacement for the thruster insert. This excessive amount of time is ridiculous.

Are you talking about the black strip that runs across the base of the windshield? Mine completely came off during the snow this winter. I was told it is cosmetic only and noticed in brand new models it is a rubberized caulk vs decale. I plan to do a caulk strip at the base of the window and then a high heat paint to conceal the glue now visible under the glass.

Samtep, Its the one across the top of the windshield. On my 2019 895 a black Caulk perhaps 3/4” wide between the glass and the visor then about 1/2” width of the black paint below that (or whatever it is) is visible from the outside. The paint is what’s coming off. It’s not very noticeable from the outside. From the inside you see the black paint several inches wide. You can see the paint flaking off along the bottom and also see all the paint peeling and cracking. I’m considering trying to cover it on the inside with flexible neoprene applied along the edge of the top of the windshield on the inside. www.amazon.com/Neoprene-Dualplex-Weather-Stripping-Adhesive/dp/B07WNSHDZ5Capt’n Lynn

Hi samtep, I have the same issue with the decal gone from the base of the windshield. Mine is a 2013 MF755. However, this is not merely cosmetic. The decal protects the glue underneath from UV-rays from the sun. The UV will slowly deteriorate the glue, and as the windshield is part of the carrying structure of the pilothouse, it's not good. I am having professionals setting up a new decal there. Just bought the boat, and the sun has already been working on the glue too long for my comfort.

Thanks for the info - I can see the sun impacting that glue.
