Hi!
A newbie from Spain here (excuse my typos...).
After having read this forum for months and made up my mind thanks to the explanations of your messages, in July I received my new NC795 + yamaha 200hp (Merry Fisher here in Spain). I have enjoyed it all summer and it currently has 75hrs. I can not say anything bad, everything has worked perfectly since it arrived, but I wanted to make a couple of comments in case they can help someone, I think they are applicable to any boat, but I'm new into motorboats (had a Sun 2500 before):
- Make sure the shower control is turned off during navigation, the other day I took a whole bucket of water from the bilge, it seems that the remote control was turned on with some wave and it emptied a few dozen liters during the trip back to port.
- If you have a yamaha ftx engine, watch out for electronic deactivation using the remote control. The controller was stored in a backpack and it drove me crazy for a whole morning...
Now I would like to ask a couple of questions:
(edit)
- I'm thinking of installing a saltwater washdown pump. I see that there are some of you who have installed it in 795 (Capt’n Ron?). If you could help me with some photos of how it looks and where you have installed it would be very much appreciated. I find it essential to clean the blood while I fish, the power of the fresh water shower is not enough to clean that mess.
I was thinking that maybe I could disassemble the gas installation and go ahead and install the hose inside the kitchen gas hatch, which is an option I wouldn't choose again since I have realized that I will never cook again on board of this boat due to the low height of the kitchen and the little space available. I wonder if it would be possible... If I get to do it, then the next thing to do would be to uninstall the kitchen and install a coffee machine instead.
- I am going to install a Garmin autopilot, do you recommend using the NMEA network or better to install the screen separately? Perhaps for quick access it may be better to have it separate. I had thought about using NMEA and buying a remote control to carry in my pocket while fishing.
Thank you very much for your help during all this months!
