I have always added fans to my boats. In previous ones I had 2-speed Hella ones and currently I have the Caframo 3-speed fans which I like very much. They see a lot of use and my only gripe is that they are somewhat difficult to clean. www.amazon.com/Caframo-Bora-12V-Marine-Speed/dp/B00S15WGAI

Fans in the Med are a must, unless you really like hot and sticky cabins.
Sorry I cannot remember the make of ours. Bought in Greece from the chandlers.
Look for those you can swivel and tilt with a good locking mechanism to hold them in place once adjusted. Try to mount them to a solid surface rather than a infill panel as they can sometime set up a resonance on the latter. However, we find those that make a little noise help to drown out late night noise from the quayside and, believe it or not, are are better to sleep with.
We have two fans in our aft cabin, one for each side of the bed. In practise we have found the opposite fan gives a more pleasant feel than the nearest giving a direct blast onto you.
Ditto to cleaning them. They are a pain.

Carfano fans mounted at places where I can easily access 12 volt wiring.

We fitted a Caframo Sirocco II in the aft cabin. Quiet and plenty of air flow.

Paul you may have 12 volt wiring already in place that can power the fans. There is additional wiring in the loom on my SO36i that is not connected to anything. Check your wiring diagram.

I would recommend not going for a no-name cheap fan unless you can see (and hear) it first. Every decibel that you save will be worth every penny that it might cost extra.

As Alenka correctly mentions, the fixing is also critical, we have both a Hella in the guest cabin and 2 Caframo Ultimates in our cabin, which I like as they are easy to clean. www.marinesuperstore.com/hatches/fans-windscoops/caframo-ultimate-fan?variant=99052331but I took the, at the time, easy way of fixing them to a thin ply panel, which can get bad vibrations. I have improved things slightly with foam packing, but now don't really want to move them to a hard surface due to the extra holes...
