I’m thinking about changing from our 379 to a 469. My priorities are the Sailing performance, handling and fun factor. Our 379 is a really fun boat to sail. As our family grows we might enjoy the extra space of a 469. The 379 is perfect for us now most of the time but when the family joins it’s really tight. Please comment if you have made a switch like this or have a 469. Cheers

Have a 469 up from a SO37 last year. Love her!
Easy to handle with 2, sails well.
First trip since buying with full cabins so will know more about the live aboard with 6 next week.

I’ve been sailing my 469 for a year including 4 months singlehanding in the Bahamas. Great boat for that and for entertaining. Easily handled the Gulf Stream crossing with three aboard. Each in their own cabin was nice. The freezer was good to have when fishing was successful. My first boat too.

Thanks for the input. After a wonderful day on the water in a beautiful 469 we have decided to not move up. The 469 sailed beautifully and was easy to get on and off the dock. Our decision was based primarily on how we use the boat now. The 379 is so fun and responsive that the added room of the 469 didn’t outweigh the sporty personality of the 379. As the family grows we will revisit a change. It’s a bit early for us now.
