Hi, im just about the replace the sprayhood and stackpack on my 379. The boat is 2013, and six years seems to be as long as the standard items last. The current Jeanneau items are in the standard colour, taupe, which is a dirty mustardy colour. I'm interested in anyone who has replaced with a different colour scheme. I'm considering black which is the same colour as the wheel and consol covers on mine but concerned that this might show any bird strikes too vividly. Any pictures of alternatives would be appreciated. Interestingly the stackpack on my last boat is still going after 18 years and the sprayhood is still serviceable after 10.

Hello davidseakayaker,
We are considering replacing our dodger and and are considering what material to use. We replaced our old bimini last year as the old canvas had very bad mildew marks. We were told in Sydney that local gum tree spores were causing the problem. Apparently quite rare. Well that was a good story anyway because we came back from a few months away to the boat now in Townsville (much hotter conditions) and the new bimini has exactly the same type of mildew forming.
We have used Sunbrella plus in cadet grey but may change to a Sattler marine product in Pewter 941.
We avoid darker colours because in hot conditions we feel that the darker colour may make it a little uncomfortable to sit under. That may not be an issue in most other places.
Regards,
Trevor

We are still doing fine with our original dodger and stak-pac as we enter our 8th season. The reason is that we have a small tarp which covers the dodger and sail cover when the boat is not in use for more than a couple of days. It is sunbrella and is also designed to be pulled aft to cover the cockpit when it rains and we are aboard. It dramatically reduces UV damage and collects all the bird crap. There is the extra effort to put it in place but the cost savings are considerable and you can pick a dodger and stak-pac colour for esthetic reasons and not worry about the bird effect.
