Hi.
I recently purchased the above yacht and on my last trip which entailed five hours of motoring I noticed that the engine bay fan turned on automatically several times. I immediately thought the engine must be overheating but the alarm did not go off, there was no steam from the exhaust and there was plenty of raw cooling water. The engine has just had the upgraded heat exchanger core fitted.
Can anyone tell me how the fan is switched on and off?
Any thoughts on the situation would be most welcome.
Regards.
Myna Bird.

I have a 2004 Sun Odyssey 35, which is probably set up the same as your boat. There is a thermostat that turns the fan on and off. On my boat, it’s located right at the opening to the air duct. My experience is that once it turns on, it usually stays on. But I wouldn’t be concerned if it turned on and off by itself.
