Hello All,
Anyone have a 379 with factory installed autopilot? I'm looking at a 379 without autopilot and am trying to identify the easiest ram, head unit, etc. to install.
Boat currently has a Simrad NSS12 MFD.
Thanks! -Chuck

My SO37 a dealer installed linear drive at some point. It was in the starboard aft cabin. Link to the pic => Starboard Aft Cabin

Thanks for the pic and info! Is the hole where the drive connects to the quadrant? I assume that L-shaped cover was added during the pilot install?

Hi Chuck, You will probably find that there are pre-drilled holes for mounting the linear drive for the autopilot. My 36i had them that matched up with the Raymarine drive that I fitted. Good luck. Rob

Yes - it appears there's a tab on the quadrant to connect the linear drive. I still have to figure out where to put the rudder feedback unit but there should be room. And the cover was likely created by the contractor- a nice touch!

Does the auto pilot work without the rudder feedback sensor? Or does the sensor just add an additional level of precision?

I've had a number of autopilots and never had a rudder position sensor. They work fine, but probably would work better with one.
